Michael D. Packer
Chairman

Michael is the Director of Manufacturing, Advanced Production Programs at Lockheed Martin Skunk Works®, with over 40 years of experience in production engineering and operations. His leadership spans all levels—staff, plant, division, and corporate.
A member of the SME International Board since 2012 and a Fellow of the SME College, Michael also chairs the NCDMM Board of Directors and serves as Director and Treasurer of the MSSC Executive Board.
He’s deeply engaged in professional communities: an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a long-time SAE International member and former AeroTech World Congress Chair, and past Chair of NDIA’s Manufacturing Division Executive Committee.
Certified in the Shingijutsu Lean Production System, he has served on MIT’s Lean Aerospace Initiative Board and authored numerous works on manufacturing strategy, advanced technologies, and workforce development.
Michael holds a bachelor’s in Industrial Technology from Eastern Michigan University, an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, and completed the Manufacturing Executive Program at the University of Michigan.
