CLEARWATER, FL – Dean Bartles, Ph.D., FSME, FASME, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group (MTDG), headquartered in Clearwater, FL, has joined the World Manufacturing Foundation (WMF) Board of Directors.
Based in Milan, Italy, as a non-profit organization, WMF conducts the annual World Manufacturing Forum and produces various publications giving insight into manufacturing challenges and providing technology roadmaps. Dr. Bartles has been associated with the WMF for many years in various roles and strongly supports its mission. “I am pleased to join this distinguished international organization of manufacturing leaders and will strive to promote the WMF mission to democratize advanced manufacturing technologies toward sustainable and equitable growth,” stated Dr. Bartles.
Dr. Bartles has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM), President of the National Tooling and Machining Association, Director of the John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center at the University of New Hampshire, and Executive Director of the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (MxD) in Chicago. MTDG holds several companies that conduct manufacturing research and development projects and programs including NCDMM which manages America Makes, the national additive manufacturing institute.

Dr. Bartles worked for General Dynamics Corporation for 31 years managing manufacturing operations in Egypt, Turkey, and the U.S., and previously worked for Fairchild Republic Company. He served as the 2016-2017 President of the North American Manufacturing Research Institute, the 2016 President of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the founding Chairman of the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition, and the Chairman of the Board of NCDMM. Dean graduated from Indiana State University earning a Ph.D. in Technology Management with a concentration in Manufacturing Systems and holds additional doctorates.
