Grants support learning pathways, hands-on training across Northwest and Central Florida
CLEARWATER, FL – Advanced Manufacturing International (AMI) has been awarded a combined $1.5M in grants from the Florida Department of Commerce to strengthen Florida’s advanced manufacturing workforce through new Industry 4.0 learning initiatives with Gulf Coast State College and Daytona State College.
Both projects will establish Industry 4.0 learning pathways for traditional and non-traditional learners, preparing Floridians to meet today’s workforce challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities. These initiatives will create hands-on, technology-rich learning environments where students can explore and engage with advanced manufacturing tools and processes, developing the skills needed to support Florida’s rapidly growing manufacturing sector.
AMI, a Clearwater, FL-based not-for-profit, accelerates the digital transformation of small and medium-sized manufacturers through practical, scalable Industry 4.0 solutions that build competitiveness and resilience. In collaboration with its partner colleges, AMI will roll out new technologies, align programs with industry needs, and engage new learners and instructors in the next generation of manufacturing.
At Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, the $1M grant will support the development of new advanced manufacturing learning pathways and the installation of cutting-edge training equipment on campus. The initiative aims to build a sustainable talent pipeline that fuels economic growth across Bay County and the greater Northwest Florida region.
At Daytona State College, a $500,000 grant will establish an Advanced Manufacturing and Entrepreneurial Center, expanding on an existing partnership with AMI. The center will provide interactive, real-world learning experiences in automation, digital manufacturing, and smart systems, empowering students and the community to participate in Florida’s manufacturing innovation ecosystem.
“These investments represent a major step forward in preparing Florida’s workforce for the future of manufacturing,” said Joe Veranese, CEO of AMI. “Our partnerships with Gulf Coast State College and Daytona State College demonstrate how education, technology, and industry can come together to create meaningful change. We’re not just building programs, we’re building pathways to opportunity, innovation, and economic vitality. By aligning Florida’s talent development with the needs of high-tech manufacturers, we’re ensuring that communities across the state are equipped to compete, grow, and lead in the digital manufacturing era.”
